BEST ARCADE SPORTS GAMES

Man, I miss the old arcade days.  Now they're pretty much extinct, what with the home systems having amazing graphics, control and sound.  Where's my time machine?

What do you feel was the best sports-themed arcade game?  For me, you have to go back to the days of pizza parlors or arcades in the '80s to enjoy the greatest experience in video sports...

TRACK & FIELD!!!

The game that introduced button-mashing to the masses, and left you in a pool of sweat after each event.  This game was so multi-layered and each event well-detailed that you felt like you were actually on the field competing in each event (100 m dash, long jump, javelin, hammer throw, hurdles, and high jump).

Certainly the NBA JAM series will get mentions by others, or the NFL BLITZ series, or Golden Tee Golf.  But T&F will always be my favorite.  I liked Hyper Sports (the sequel) too, but the original was better.

What are your submissions, people?

WORST KARAOKE SONGS, OR ONES THAT ARE OVERPLAYED

I was gonna veer off the path of talking sports in my blogs someday, and that day is today.

I'm a big fan of karaoke.. I've been doing it religiously for about 2 years or so.  Was real nervous about it at first, got prodded into it by my brother, and finally tried it.  Ended up loving it.  Got a spot in my neighborhood that I go to and, lucky me, they've got internet access to download songs for you.  And they can find just about anything.  I have handed them lists upon lists of songs to try to expand their selection.  But people still come in and sing the SAME DAMN SONGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN!  And most of these songs really suck!  Really grinds my gears.

So what ones do you get real sick of hearing?  Karaoke fans, voice your opinions.

ALL-TIME PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS TEAMS

Either submit a 12-man roster, starting with the 5 starters, then 7 bench players (include at least one of each position on the bench), and a 3-man injured reserve list of your all-time Portland Trailblazers squad.  OR: Make 3 five man teams, starting with best team first, then a 3-man injured reserve list, with each 5-man squad having a PG, SG, SF, PF, and C.  The injured reserves can be any position.  My example:

1st squad:

PG-6'4 #45 Geoff Petrie

SG-6'7 #22 Clyde Drexler

SF-6'9 #20 Maurice Lucas

PF-6'10 #43 Mychal Thompson

C-6'10 #34 Bill Walton

2nd squad:

PG-6'3 #30 Terry Porter

SG-6'6 #4 Jim Paxson

SF-6'9 #21 Sidney Wicks

PF-6'11 #3 Clifford Robinson

C-7'0 #00 Kevin Duckworth

3rd squad:

PG-6'3 #1 Rod Strickland

SG-6'6 #33 Calvin Natt

SF-6'8 #55 Kiki Vandeweghe

PF-6'11 #30 Rasheed Wallace

C-7'3 #11 Arvydas Sabonis

Injured Reserve:

PG-6'1 #7 Kenny Anderson

PG-5'10 #3 Damon Stoudamire

SF-6'7 #25 Jerome Kersey

Just missing out would probably be Lionel Hollins and Buck Williams.

You don't have to show height, weight, number, college, any of that stuff unless you want to.

What are your picks?

Genesis Sports Games

Now, let's move up in the console chain by looking back at the Sega Genesis sports games.  What titles did you love or hate among the "Nintendo killer"'s titles?  Gotta love that slogan: Sega Does What Nintendon't!

ALL-TIME BUSTS (NFL)

Whereas the NBA has had its share of non-impact players, so has the NFL.  Throw out some of the crappiest, most highly-regarded college stars that amounted to a big fat zero on an NFL field.  Players that are now earning minimum wage somewhere.

I generally like to keep matters sports-related, but here and there I'll throw people for a loop, just 'cause it's fun!
