Any ballad...1 or 2 in a night is OK, but when the count gets into the double-digits, you know 2 things: all ballads are identical (and crappy) and there is no God.

I've only participated in Karaoke once ... and the song my wife and I had (it was at my sister's wedding rehearsal dinner) was the GREATEST: "Why Can't We Be Friends" by War. We nailed that one big time!!

There are A LOT of ones that are just plain horrible. Too many for me to decide!! But I'll suggest one: Copacabana by Barry Manilow (in fact, anything by Barry Manilow -- or Air Supply, for that matter).

Not bad picks guys.  Although I have sung some Air Supply (just 'cause I grew up with it and it was a challenge for my vocal chords).  I definitely hear "Summer Nights" far too often.  My nominations are:

"Don't Stop Believin'" (Journey): I used to love that song, but now EVERYONE sings it and I'm sick to death of it.

"Sweet Caroline" (Neil Diamond): Maybe people like to sing it for the cheese factor, but it's really stupid.  If you want to sing cheese, sing it once and then leave it alone.  I also hate how people in the "audience" add the "BA BA BAAA" after the "Sweet Caroline" lyric, and then the "SO GOOD, SO GOOD, SO GOOD" after the "Good times never felt so good" part.  Warm up the short bus; it's time to get these idiots back home.

"Before He Cheats" (Carrie Underwood): Stupid, stupid, stupid song.  Not gonna elaborate, 'cause I don't think I have to.

"Wind Of Change" (Scorpions): I like the Scorps but this one is done way too often.

And pretty much anything Alanis Morissette.  Retch.  My DJ does all her songs.

Keep the trash comin' in, folks!  I get more responses with non-sports blogs sometimes than sports-related ones.  Kinda cool, really.

Hey Brick.

Yeah, I hear Turn The Page far, far too often.  Very seldom will I hear other good Seger songs like "Night Moves" or "Fire Lake", or "Still The Same", etc.  I don't hear much Skynyrd though.

ALL Sunday night the DJ downloaded an ENTIRE 3-page list of songs I submitted to be downloaded into their computer.  It was replete with 1-hit wonders.  Can't wait to do more of 'em!  Many of the songs may suck, but at least I can sing 'em fairly well.

Strokin'-Clarence Carter: Not only overplayed but incredibly stupid. 

Faithfully-Journey: Overplayed by about 100 times.  Enough already with the slow ballads!

Patience-Guns 'N Roses: I don't like GNR much to begin with, but that is definitely one of their worst.

If any of those are playing I go somewhere else to do something, anything until it's over.

I absolutely love to karaoke........some of the ones I hate to hear, usually because the people don't even know the words, even when in front of them.  Some of these are songs that people sing on purpose who know they can't sing, to justify making fun of those of us who are actually not tone deaf.  In other words, haters.........lol

5) Baby Got Back

6) What's Up (Four Non Blondes)

7) I Will Always Love You

8) Any song over 7 minutes when all they sing is the chorus and still manage to screw that up

Agree with about all of those.  I'm even past the point of caring whether or not they are good at singing of those, simply because I'm sick of them being overplayed. 

I love singing Baby Got Back (funny because I'm a skinny white guy) but hearing other people "sing" it makes my fingernails and toenails curl back in disgust.  Is it really that cool to suck so hard?

I feel so out of place when I sing, because unlike nearly everyone else I don't suck.  And the only ones who seem to appreciate it are fat and drunk women who want to dance next to me and just about knock me over or step on me.  The life of a karaoke singer is a dangerous one!
